Plant of the Week 29/5/2009: Camellia sasanqua as an espalier
I mentioned in
this week's Plant of the Week article
that
'Jennifer Susan' at 2m in height is good for
hedging and is an excellent variety for espalier.
Well here she is espaliered Japanese-style
within the confines of a bamboo fence.
Three 'Jennifer Susan's' have been confined within the fence recently, each shrub within its own panel. Here is one panel of the screen with one 'J.S.' shrub.
'Jennifer Susan' will take a few years to establish, but together with the bamboo fence, she is destined to form a beautiful privacy screen.
