Bouquets to the
RSPCA for their
Shop Humane intiative.
During this time of caring and sharing it's a comfort
to know that the meat we are eating has been grown, fed and
finally killed for our tables in a humane manner.
For those of us who care about the welfare and quality of life of farm animals this initiative is a step in the right direction to provide clear choices about the produce we buy.
Do you ever wonder what's the difference between "free-range pork" and "bred free-range pork"? The RSPCA state:
"Free-range pork is where pigs are bred and raised
outdoors.
Bred free-range pork is where sows live and
breed in a free-range environment but the weaned piglets
are grown in sheds or in eco-shelters."
It's fabulous to see that the RSPCA and our supermarkets are finally listening to consumers about farming practices and animal welfare.
As the RSPCA rightly say, "Your shopping list is your voting card." Thankfully our choices are clearer this Christmas.
So lookout for organic and free-range products when you shop and enjoy a Cruelty-Free Christmas.
